When it comes to those that do find the time and finances to travel, they usually choose destinations inside the country or international destinations nearby. So, where do Americans most eagerly spend their vacation days?

1. Las Vegas

It’s no wonder that Las Vegas tops the list when it comes to domestic destinations. It is the excitement combined with glamour that attracts millions of tourists to this city, not only from America but from worldwide. The main reason for visiting is the endless array of luxurious casinos, but Las Vegas is much more than that. The city offers many options for those that seek excitement such as theme parks and it’s a traditional place to get hitched. This bright city is full of surprises and if you can’t afford to travel abroad it’s the next best thing, with replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids, Venetian canals and many other beautiful sights.

2. New York

The Big Apple is not just one of the top destinations for Americans, but for the tourists from all around the world. It’s simple – in New York, it’s impossible to get bored. This unbelievable city offers so much that you can’t possibly see all of it in one go. Once you get a taste, you will be coming back to it over and over again. New York is the most populous city in America with its population being from all corners of the world. That’s why the city breathes with different cultures. Everything from trying the delicious cuisine to visiting legendary landmarks and museums is a spectacular experience.

3. Orlando

Orlando is the third most visited destination by Americans, but it’s the number one family destination in the U.S. The city is full of interesting spots that occupy the whole family and provide fun for everyone. The main reason, of course, is the Disney World. This world-famous theme park is something every child should visit at least once, and parents aren’t indifferent to the whole atmosphere either. Other places in Orlando all families should check out are the Islands of Adventure amusement park, Aquatica water park and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Diagon Alley. Grown-up fun includes fine dining and excellent shopping opportunities.

4. San Diego

Some like to call San Diego a Heaven on Earth and it’s quite easy to see why. For all of us who can’t get enough of sunny days, San Diego is a perfect destination because it’s summer pretty much all year long there. And that’s basically the reason this city is so high on the list of Americans’ favorite destinations – the beach and everything related to it. Tourists come to San Diego to soak up the sun and relax at the beach, but swimming, kayaking and surfing are all excellent options. And not only that – you can also spend a day hanging out with water animals such as whales or seals.

5. Los Angeles

Fifth favorite travel destination if you’re planning to stay inside the borders is Los Angeles which offers a perfect mixture of all sorts of fun. Whatever you’re into, you are pretty likely to find it in L.A. First of all, the city and its outskirts are full of unspoiled nature, including fantastic parks and beautiful beaches. For a bit of family fun, Los Angeles also offers world-famous amusement parks such as Disneyland. Delicious food options and shopping in Beverly Hills are also great reasons to visit. But probably the most important one is Hollywood which makes L.A. the Entertainment Capital of the World.

5. Vancouver

Also practical for being close, Vancouver actually has a lot to offer. It is a perfect getaway for those who prefer their holiday in the nature as this city is a magical combination of a vibrant urban atmosphere surrounded by jaw-dropping mountains and water. So while tourists come to enjoy all the charms that a big city brings, the architecture, food, art and shopping, other come for a piece of outdoor adventure.
